KT Tunstall

I discovered KT Tunstall when she made a performance at a David Letterman show. I was very impressed by the fact that she was alone on the stage and that she was recording all the back vocals and back rythms herself before starting to sing. Since then I bought her albums and really enjoy her talent.

Here’s a similar performance of KT in this clip that I first saw on the blog of Carl Charest

I’m not a big fan of complete Flash site.  I’m open minded on the presence of Flash on a site.  Flash that can step up the visual experience but with the content included directly in the HTML.  To Flash or not on a site depends also on the subject, maybe it’s  not a great idea to have a big flash on a lawyer site but for an artist site it could be more valuable.

On that I think the site for the casting of the Cirque du Soleil did a great job.  The presentation of the different discipline is embeded in a Flash movie and it’s interesting (a html only version can also be consulted).  For the rest, the content can be found in html pages.  This way the content can easily be indexed by the robots and with the addition of Google Adwords and some strategic banner placement it will help to promote the job opening at the Cirque.

A good mix of the technologies that brings the site to a very interesting level of visual attractiveness and content efficiency.

Le moine urbain

I just discovered this great designer shop, Le moine urbain,  that creates wonderfull kitchen and bathroom designs.  They used a lot of raw materials to create simplist but astonishing environment.

DCI 2007

When I was younger (seems a long time ago) I was a member of a drum and bugle corps in Quebec City.  The corps was called Les Sénateurs.  I played bass drum and snare for about 6 years and it was 6 great years in my life.  Since then, each year I missed the fact that I can’t play anymore.  And I missed it much more when I see some footage like this one, a round-up of the 2007 DCI World Championship that has been held at the Rose Bowl Stadium.  Hope that some day I’ll have the time to march in a senior corps and live the passion again.

Ouch…

Here’s a photography taken in a hospital in Kenya where atrocities that looks like the ones that occured in Rwanda in the 90s are also taking place.  Hoping that this time the international community will do something before millions get themselves killed.

Big Bang!

A great photography made by Francis Vachon, a very good photographer from Quebec City. It represents an electric transformer explosion near a burning building. Quite incredible shot with the fireman just under the explosion.

Kazar Creation just made up this little homepage for REMAX Fortin Delage inc. stand at Laurier shopping center in Quebec City.

The client wanted to have a page where the visitors could find the list of agents that will be displaying their properties at the stand. Not a big job but it was needed quickly and we delivered as quick as it was asked for.

We’re hoping that this will lead to more development with this REMAX office in the future because we think that we could help produce great site for those agents. Better website could means an improvement of the visibility, more traffic, more calls and more sales for them. We’ll see in 2008…

Each year in January, there’s a big hockey tournament in my hometown, L’Ancienne-Lorette. This tournament, for the bantam category, bring to the city great hockey teams from all over the province of Quebec, other Canadian provinces and for this year from as far as Finland. For the 29th year of the tournament, they decided to revamp the tournament web site.

Kazar Creation was asked to produce the redesign and to propose an integration of the homepage and second level pages. Volunteer Developers for the tournament were responsible for the coding and the final integration.

The site is now online at 60%, the dynamic parts still needs to be coded but it’s possible to take a look at our work.

Boomerang 2007

The Boomerang (site in french) are prizes for the Province of Quebec Interactive Communication Community.  They anknowledge the best project of the year from Communication and Web Firm in Quebec for their project in Quebec or outside.  For this year the vast majority of prizes have been given for 100% Flash sites.  For sure, Flash sites are looking great, create impressive environment for the users but still  those site are not  the best  for SEO so I’m perplexed about the fact that they win almost all the prizes.

I like Flash for creating an environment but not for all kinds of sites but I’m not for Flash when the content is also stored in the Flash files.  One of the site that didn’t won a prize but get a mention and that is representing pretty much the union between Flash and HTML is the Springs Preserve site by Sid Lee (I’m always wishing that Sid Lee will someday open an office in Quebec City, but I think it will only be in my dreams).
